Ryan Bierwerth Serves on NFPA Technical Committee
September 2010
Summit Fire Consulting is pleased to announce that Ryan Bierwerth is beginning his second year as an Alternate member to the NFPA Building Code/Safety to Life Technical Committee on Industrial, Storage, and Miscellaneous Occupancies. This Technical Committee (TC) is responsible for assisting the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) with the administration of select chapters of the following national codes: NFPA 101 Life Safety Code and NFPA 5000 Building Construction and Safety Code. Through this TC membership, Ryan has attended multiple meetings with other national experts in evaluating proposed revisions to NFPA 101 and NFPA 5000, and voting on the proposed revisions. If the necessary votes are secured during the TC meetings, then the revisions are enacted in the next cycles of NFPA 101 and NFPA 5000. In addition to supporting his profession, Ryan’s involvement in the NFPA Building Code/Safety to Life Technical Committee on Industrial, Storage, and Miscellaneous Occupancies assists Summit Fire Consulting’s clients by gaining an understanding to the code-revision process.
