Summit Fire Consulting Staff Attend Annual Institute for Building Officials
January 2009

Summit Fire Consulting staff members recently attended various educational seminars at the 53rd Annual Institute for Building Officials, which is administered by the College of Continuing Education at the University of Minnesota.  The Annual Institute is a week-long event held at the University of Minnesota’s St. Paul campus that attracts hundreds of code officials from around the State of Minnesota every January, including Building Officials, Building Inspectors, Fire Marshals, Fire Inspectors, Mechanical Inspectors, Electrical Inspectors, Plumbing Inspectors, Architects, and Consultants.  Mark Rivers from Summit Fire Consulting attended a course related to means of egress.  Ryan Bierwerth attended or moderated courses involving testing of fire doors, accessibility in commercial buildings, building sustainability, and fire sprinkler systems using NFPA 13D Installation of Sprinkler Systems in One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured Homes.  Ryan also served his third year in a row on the Planning Committee for the Annual Institute, acting this year as Chair of the Building Subcommittee.
