  3. How is Summit Fire Consulting related to Summit Fire Protection?

Summit Fire Consulting is a division of Summit Fire Protection that was established in 2003.  Summit Fire Protection, a Minnesota C Corporation, is a design-build fire protection company that was established in 1999.  Although we do occasionally pursue joint ventures, the majority of Summit Fire Consulting’s projects do not include Summit Fire Protection as the fire protection contractor.  Summit Fire Consulting typically works on projects prior to identifying a fire sprinkler contractor.  Further, we work with other fire sprinkler contractors all the time.
  4. If Summit Fire Consulting is not licensed in a particular state, can they still do work in that state?

We currently have licensed Professional Engineers (PE’s) in seven different states.  Further, Ryan Bierwerth has a current Record at the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), which allows for expedited acquisition of PE licenses in most states.  We work where our clients work.  If you have an out-state project, contact Ryan Bierwerth at 651-251-1855 or rbierwerth@summitfire.com to inquire about our services and licensing capabilities.
  5. What benefits can be gained from using Summit Fire Consulting?

Most building owners, architects, engineers, and contractors do not deal with fire protection and life safety issues on a day-to-day basis.  We do—it is our passion and our expertise.  Our goal is to save time, money, and headaches for our clients.  Whether our services include building code consulting, fire code consulting, fire sprinklers, fire alarms, special hazard fire protection systems, smoke control, means of egress, hazardous materials, or structural fire protection…we can probably help your project.
  6. Does Summit Fire Consulting perform special inspections?

Yes, we perform special inspections for smoke management systems, fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, structural fire protection, and alternate designs of fire life safety—when required or desired by the owner, architect, engineer, contractor, or authority having jurisdiction.  We do not perform special inspections of structural systems.
  7. Who does Summit Fire Consulting work for?

We are proud of our client list, which includes owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, and developers.
  8. Are there job opportunities at Summit Fire Consulting?

Summit Fire Consulting hires the best.  We are always looking for positive, energetic, and talented individuals that are interested in helping grow our company.  For more information, contact Ryan Bierwerth at 651-251-1855 or rbierwerth@summitfire.com
  9. Do Summit Fire Consulting’s seminars count towards continued education?

The majority of the attendees at our seminars count the seminars towards continuing education requirements, including architects, engineers, and real estate professionals.  However, Summit Fire Consulting is not formally certified by any agency as a provider of continuing education.  Nonetheless, most licensed professionals have continuing education requirements that allow the attendee to fill out a “self-report” form and use their own discretion as to whether the seminar is appropriate.  All attendees of Summit Fire Consulting’s seminars receive a copy of the presentation slides and other handout materials—to document the content of the seminar.  Most all licensed architects do count our seminars towards Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW) credit, utilizing AIA’s Self-Report form.  Most all licensed engineers do count our seminars towards their continuing education requirements.
  10. How do I schedule a seminar with Summit Fire Consulting?

Contact Ryan Bierwerth at 651-251-1855 or rbierwerth@summitfire.com.
  11. Is Summit Fire Consulting authorized to “sign off” on projects (sprinkler drawings, fire alarm drawings, etc.)?

With our multiple licensed fire protection engineers, we can review and approve bid drawings, shop drawings, calculations, submittals, etc. for fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, smoke control systems, etc.  We have Professional Engineers (PE’s) in multiple states.
